The Scottsdale Health Honor Ball

Well, being the wife of a Dean sure has it's perks!  We were invited to the Scottsdale Health Honor Ball and I have to say it was the most overwhelming yet amazing event we have ever been to!  Jon Kyl and his wife were seated at our table!!!  He is a former US Senator for Arizona and also served as Senate Majority Whip (the second highest position in the Republican Senate leadership)!!! And at the table behind us was Senator Jeff Flake who succeeded him...Mitch had to get a tux and I got a new dress...

This is Bob Johnson.  He invited us to be guests at his table.  He works at MWU.  See the medal around his neck?  He is a pretty important guy.  He is a past President of the American Pharmacists Association.  He even has a scholarship named after him...

This is his wife Tina.  She is a classy lady!  Tina's Treasures is a gift shop in a hospital named after her!  She's pretty important too!

Center pieces on the table!

Senator Kyl and his wife

This is Senator Flake.  He was right behind us.  Sorry I don't have great pictures...I was too nervous to ask if I could take their picture

They fly this entire orchestra in from California!  They were great!  Mitch and I even danced!!!  It was a great evening!

Kids

The Rainbow Loom is a very popular thing among kids right now.  Marcus LOVES to make cool bracelets...

He has made lots for his friends and even rings too!

Marcus still loves WWE...the belts and hammer Mitch have were all made by Marcus, plus the red case Marcus is holding.  It all has to do with WWE...

Over Christmas Break Mac did some volunteer work at a homeless shelter with her Youth group.  Afterwards they went bowling.  She is seated at the right.

Proctor and Gamble Convention

Last weekend I worked a job for a Proctor and Gamble convention.  It was Friday-Monday and paid really well.  P&G wanted a spa-like experience for the CEO's and their spouses using ALL P&G products.  It was like walking into a salon.  We had hair, makeup, nails, facials and reflexology as well as a room centered for men where TV's had Sports Center on and they could get a shave...this is my work station.  The other nail tech is a friend of mine (that's how I got the job)

The girl in the middle was the makeup artist.  She has done a lot of celebrities and was actually headed to Mexico after the event to do makeup for a Sports Illustrated photo shoot! The girl next to her is my friend April who was the other nail tech.

This was Alisa...she was the reflexologist and after talking to her we found out we worked together at my first job here in Arizona.  She did a pregnancy massage on me when I was pregnant with Marcus!!! Small world!

This is Elisa, she helped keep us all organized and got each client to their next station...

On our last day we were given a reception for all our hard work and the P&G CEO came to thank us and we were rehired to do their next event in April!  Yay!!!  It was fun! This was the view from the resort it was held at....

Dean Emerson

This blog entry is dedicated entirely to my hard working husband. Back in September he was recognized for 10 years of service and dedication to Midwestern.  In just those 10 years he has come a long way from the professor he started out as and was tenured just a few years after starting at MWU.  He quickly moved into the Dean's office as Assistant Dean and shortly after that was promoted to Associate Dean.  He even had the responsibility of Acting Chair of the Pharmacy Practice Dept.  A lot of work pulling double duty and graciously doing so.  He has been the Chair of several committee's and back in 2012 he was awarded the Littlejohn Award for his tireless effort for getting the College of Pharmacy an accreditation of 8 years!  Over the holidays he had planned on some much needed R & R when on Christmas morning an unexpected change happened.  The Dean of the college announced his resignation effective almost immediately.  Later that day the president of the university contacted Mitch and shortly thereafter was appointed Interim Dean.  This is a big challenge and a huge honor and he is very excited to begin this new chapter in his career.  Quite an accomplishment for a 42 year old.  I am so extremely proud of him and wanted to share this fantastic news!

Getting ready for Christmas

Mitch and I had his work party Friday night.  It was fun!

This is a photo bomb by Marcus..

Marcus decided that he wanted to make tshirts for his figures...he made these out of an old shirt and then printed off tiny wrestling logos and glued them to the shirts...he even did the sewing!  Extremely creative!!!

Making sugar cookies with dad...Mackenzie was on the couch; she has a nasty cold.

This was at the Youth Christmas party...Mac is straight in the back...she wasn't feeling well but we still went.  They played games, watched a Christmas movie and had lots of good food to eat.
I can't remember if I posted this picture but I LOVE this pic of her so much!  My baby girl is growing up and she is so beautiful!!!

One of the families in our culdesac had some friends over and they were going caroling. They asked Marcus to go with them.  He is on the end right in front...in fact that is where he still is as I type this!

Terramar Cheerleader/ CCV Stars Soccer player

Mackenzie made the cheer team and we couldn't be more proud of her!

Cheerleading games and practices will keep her pretty busy...

It was really hard to get a picture of her because that girl was always right in front of her!

Poo...my picture came out blurry...

Marcus's soccer team had a pizza party and received their trophies...they really played well together.

We are really proud of him!

It was so cold one night, even Copper needed a blanket!

We are 45 years old now and still besties!!!!
