Boot Cuffs

Ive been working on crocheting boot cuffs.  The ideas are endless.  You can add buttons and lace to get creative.  Im still fine tuning my crocheting skills so Im just doing simple, basic cuffs for now.  This was my first one.  I quickly realized that these won't really do well here as it doesn't get super cold here.  So I shortened the cuff on my next set and added a scalloped edge.

I gave that pair to Heather! :)

These are more plain...I just wanted to share some of what Ive done.  Hope you are all enjoying the holiday and Happy New Year!!!

Sugar cookies

Ever since Mackenzie was born Mitch has made sugar cookies with kids.  I think that is a super special tradition that he shares with them and I know they will always remember that.

My boys!

Making memories.

Disney

Olaf from the movie Frozen

The tree was beautiful!

This is the Genie from Aladin; it is completely made out of Legos and was hanging from the ceiling.  It was huge!

Pooh!!! :)

We stood in line and watched them make these treats.  They make it look so easy!

We had breakfast with the characters.  My kids weren't super thrilled at getting their picture taken over and over so Im only posting a few.

As fun as Disney was, my teen had to keep up with her friends...we all had a great time and we conquered every ride that we wanted!!

Disneyland

Our first day at Disneyland...this cute smile quickly changed to panic and fear.  While Mitch and Mackenzie were riding a roller coaster, Marcus and I decided to do the ferris wheel.  Now Im not a fan of ferris wheels but Marcus really wanted to go on it so I did.  We took this picture right before the ride began.  Did I mention we were in a swinging one?  They had non swinging ones but there was a longer wait time for those.  We barely start moving and he froze and was sure we were going to die.  You literally would swing and see the ground below.  I was trying to keep him calm and focused.  He survived and decided that after that and the Tower of Terror he had just did before the ferris wheel was enough "risk taking" for one day.  He did go on to ride everything else with us and had a blast.

The Tower of Terror is what you see behind us.  In case you don't know what that ride is, it's a haunted tower where the elevator takes you to the top and then drops you.  When you get to the top it even opens it doors and you can see all of the park and then you fall!  This was our first ride...Marcus did not like it!

Waiting in line for a ride...they didn't want to stand too close to each other.  Geez!

Mater from the movie Cars

a funny mirror :)

The castle at night!  So cool!

This is the ferris wheel that Marcus and I will probably never do again...did I mention it's also over water?!  It's higher than the roller coaster behind it!

Disneyland (arriving at the hotel)

There are perks when your husband has to travel for business and the conferences are at fun places.  His conference was right on Disneyland property.  We got to stay at the Disneyland Hotel and the cute statues of Mickey and Minnie were there to greet us! :)  The kids and I stayed with Mitch for 3 days and we flew back today and Mitch will be at his meeting until Tuesday.

Fact:  Did you know there is 1 item that is not sold anywhere on Disney property? That item is gum.

This cute pillow was on our bed.  And on the  wall above the bed was a wooden carving of the castle and at bed time when you turned out the lights, the castle and stars would light up.  My picture did not turn out :(

He was so excited I can't even explain it.

Halloween

Heather and I have a client that every time she comes in for her appointment she brings us a truffle. :)

Heather and I went to a friends wedding together.

This is Marcus on Halloween!  The only thing we had to buy was the wig and he ended up not wearing it...too hot.  He was some wrestler that wears face paint like The Joker from Batman.  The sleeves on his arms are cut up old soccer socks...he did it himself.  I will say he is very creative....Mackenzie was a genie but didn't want me to send any pics of her.  She had to get ready in a hurry so she wasn't thrilled with her hair and make up...girls!!!!

getting himself ready!

so Marcus saved all his money and gift cards to Gamestop from his birthday 3 months ago so he could get the WWE 2K15 video game that came out a few days ago.  He was so excited to get it!

Busy Month

Last week Mitch and I were invited to tour a Mormon Temple that will open next month.  It was very beautiful inside but no pictures were allowed.  Its nearly 60,000 square feet!

Mackenzie had an 8th grade dance Friday night.  My baby is growing up.

This is some of  her friends that she got ready with...they are doing a kissy face!

Copper just doing what she does best...when she's not chasing the cats.

Mitch and I had the big shin dig at Midwestern last night.  Its an event that holds a silent auction and raises money for scholarships.  It was fun!  Marcus took this picture and it came out a tad blurry..

A fun date night with my hubby!

This was the center piece on our table...the president came over and told me I could take them home :)  So pretty!

When you are Dean, certain things are just a "given" that you do for the university.  This event is a dinner that you have to pay for.  Each table hosts 10 people...Mitch had to purchase the whole table and then gets to invite people to sit with us.  Important pharmacy big wigs from Fry's, Walgreens, CVS and other businesses all come to these events.  I know it's hard to see but wanted to give Mitch kudos for his name in the Scholarship Donors...we are the second name listed.  We have come a long way from sitting nearly at the back of these events and keeping to ourselves to sitting at the front and chatting with the president of the university.  Good Job Mitch!!! :)
